The fire-fighter team consisting of local and neighbouring voluntary fire-fighter units, the mountain rescue team of the Harghita County Council from Miercurea Ciuc (Csíkszereda) and the local population could restrain the peat and forest fire in Ciceu (Csicsó) but not to entirely extinguish the fire.

The team made up by 150 people armed with chainsaws, shovels and pikes are trying to stop the fire in the outskirts of Ciceu. According to local reports, the firemen could manage to restrain the fire on the problematic parts but they could not entirely stop it.

Although the fire run-off was temporarily restrained, only a greatly expected rain could extinguish it, and according to the meteorological forecast tonight there is hope for rain.

Afterwards Mr. Csaba Borboly, the president of Harghita County Council was informed about the current situation, and affirmed that the experts of Harghita County Council are continuously keeping the contact with local authorities in order to intervene as soon as possible if it is the case, as well as in order to take the necessary steps and supporting possibilities.

At the forest fire in Ciceu on 26^th of August more special vehicles arrived to stop the fire, among which were: the tanker of the Inspectorship of Emergency Cases, the car of the local voluntary fire-fighter team respectively some tractors supplied with water tanks.
